I realized something today that was a little surprising. It's a simple, really short idea but it's a little cheesy. Here it is:
The only difference between immortality and immorality is the letter "t."
Without that second "t" you define a word that is essentially the embodiment of sin. With that second "t" you define a word that is essentially the embodiment of eternity. I've never noticed that.
But what's really interesting is how closely the letter t resembles a cross. Think about it, when you look at a letter t it is almost impossible to not see a tiny cross there. So when I see those two words together I don't just see two words. I see Christ.
I see his sacrifice and willingness to step into my immorality with a cross and change it to immortality.
It's subtle, maybe a little cheesy, but it stopped me in my tracks today. And I hope it causes you to pause too.
