Two words.

I want to ask you for two words, but the two words I'm talking about won’t make sense unless you read this verse:

The LORD is my strength and my shield;
my heart trusts in him, and I am helped.
My heart leaps for joy
and I will give thanks to him in song.
Psalm 28:7

That verse ends with the phrase, "in song." That is going to be the author's method of giving thanks. So what is yours? If you rewrote that for your own life, what would it say? Mine would say "in writing." I will give thanks to him in writing.

With the words I write on these blogs, with the words I write in the book and any other books I get to publish, with every word I pen, I am going to give thanks.

What are your two words?

At work?
In meetings?
At school?
During homework?

What are your two words?

Oh my.
"During homework." THAT was convicting.

I'd like mine to be, "In love."

I will give thanks to Him "anytime, anywhere."
Meaning constantly whether writing, singing, driving, what ever may be going on.

Four words, but they are related:

1) Through obedience;

and

2) By forgiving.

Had to improvise because someone had my original two words. Didn't want to seem like a copycat.

With cookies.

It would be "with baked goods," but I'm only allowed two words. I'll just have to leave cake and pie out of it. But when I'm really grateful to someone, I bake for them. If I could make God a pie, I totally would. It would be one awesome pie.

i talk. a lot. i need to listen to and meditate more on God's word rather than talking to everyone else about what they think it is God wants me to do.

in voice.

Actually, this is pretty convicting for me. I don't verbally express my gratitude (or any prayers, really) to God. I feel like I need to stick this verse on a post-it with my changed "two words" to remind me to be more deliberate about praying and thanking God for all that He is to me. Thanks for the reminder!

through breathing.

The ins and outs of life.
I think worship and our awe and adoration of God, and our talking and listening to Him, should be like breathing.
So natural that even when we are struggling we don't have to "remember to breath" but we just do.

I'm on the praise team, so "in song" has long been a big one for me.

I'd have to also say "mothering daughters". There isn't much else that makes me as grateful as my girlies. Except their Daddy. So I guess I could also say "in marriage".

And by that, I probably mean in prayer.

But in conversation sounds cooler, plus it invokes a mental image of God's coffee shop where we can both enjoy a hot beverage while I'm thanking the big guy for what he does.

Thanks Becca.)

I want to know whether the author chose "in song" because that was his strength and he gave thanks well in song or that was his weakness and he was choosing to "step out of his comfort zone" to give thanks.

... even knowing that I'd have a hard time deciding. Probably my two words would be: "inwhateverway icanmanageatthetime"

In doubt.

Not so much as in doubting Him, but when I feel like I am doubting myself, or what's going to happen, I'd give praise even in doubt.
