The cause and the source.

When I feel weary, as I do this morning, my first inclination is spin my heart and my head trying to identify the cause of my discomfort. But I wonder if it would be better for me to focus less on the cause of my sorrow and more on the source of my joy, Christ?

Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.
Colossians 3:2.

This is such a great thought. I thank God for dropping this into your heart, and then for your sharing it.

A favorite verse is "He inhabits our praises" (Ps 22:3) This reminds me when I am feeling far from Him that all I need do is start praising Him. Usually that dissolves my angst and I feel his presence again.

Again, thank you for the post and the verse---I always need reminding to set my mind on "things above."

It is astounding what a turn around right thinking can bring about.

Those sorts of mornings lead me to declare a "prayer and praise" day.
Turn on the worship music, and start praying through the day.
It is always a lift, and gets my heart and mind in the right place.
Focusing on the discomfort or discouragement of the moment leaves me right there in it.

the source of my joy (not earthly relationships), the source of my joy (not material things), the source of my joy (not adoration or recognition from man), the source of my joy (not how ministry makes ME feel), the source of my joy is the source of all good things

Thanks, I needed that...

That was only like 33 seconds with God, and that's cause I read it twice...I'll read it four more times.

Great thought for the day on a more serious note.

I've been reading your posts on and off for a long time now. I really believe God used your posts to help me get through a time where they were the only source of Joy and Truth I had present in my life. Don't worry about your sorrow. Find Freedom, true unadulterated, liberating Freedom in Christ as He commands us to. Read Jon 8:11 and then 1John 3:9. What do they both have in common?
